TRANSPORT & INFRASTRUCTURE

Murray O’Laoire Architects has extensive experience in the area of transport and infrastructure. A number of our bridge design projects have won national awards. The UL Pedestrian and Vehicular Access Bridge received a special mention in the 2005 AAI Awards and the N11 Bridges on the Ashford By-pass won the Irish Concrete Society Award 2005 in the Infrastructural category. The new Aer Rianta Terminal Building in Shannon Airport was awarded in the 2002 RIAI Regional Awards Commercial Building category and the 2000 Construction Excellence Awards Leisure & Tourism category.

MOLA was awarded Certificates of Merit by the Irish Planning Institute in the 'Urban Design' and 'Planning Achievement' categories in 2002 for Carlow Town Master Plan and in 2005 for Killarney Urban Master Plan. Both of these projects incorporate sustainable transportation strategies that respect the environmental quality of urban environments and landscapes and deliver user efficiency.
In conceiving a future for the historic core of Carlow, a traffic management and pedestrianisation scheme was devised. Providing solutions to congestion and environmental degradation in Killarney town centre, called for the introduction of a system of edge of centre car-parks and bus loops, releasing surface car-parks for regeneration as mixed-use developments and public spaces.

Currently we are involved in a number of projects including the proposed Baldoyle Train Station, in north Co. Dublin and the Lesnaya Mixed-Use Development in Moscow which incorporates the integration of a tram roundabout into a 72,000 sq.m. building
