Murray Ó Laoire Architects (MÓLA) and Paraic Fallon from Dublin Institute of Technology presented a joint paper for the 4th International Forum of Urbanism (IFoU) in TU Delft, the Netherlands in November, 2009.
This year’s forum was themed “The New Urban Questions – Urbanism beyond Neo-liberalism” and focused on the recovery of the discipline of Urbanism under the condition of urbanisation and urban transformation, ecological threats and economical crises. Key speakers in attendance included Saskin Sassen, Manuel Castells and the Mayor of Amsterdam, Job Cohen.
In response to the Forum theme, MOLA and Paraic jointly submitted an abstract on the subject of the Dublin Docklands development, which was accepted by the Forum Scientific Board. We see this as having been a great opportunity to present the Irish debate on an international platform which can in turn contribute to current discussions on various topics already taking place in Ireland.
