Murray Ó Laoire Architects (MÓLA) has been active in Libya since 2008 and is a founding member of Green Alliance Design. Comprising some of Ireland’s best known and long established companies, this alliance was formed specifically to provide full design team services for the construction industry in Libya and North Africa.
We have recently been involved in a number of significant projects including Surman City. This project comprises the master planning of the ‘residential sector’ of a broader Surman Plan incorporating a new city centre and university campus. The ‘residential sector’ includes accommodation for up to 5000 people in a number of dwelling types, administrative and cultural services for the community, primary and secondary school education facilities, healthcare and commercial facilities. Green Alliance Design has been engaged to carry out project management and cost control services. The master plan has recently been submitted and approved by ODAC (the Libyan Organization for Development of Administrative Centers) for construction.
MOLA's partners in Green Alliance Design, Plus 3, are providing cost control services for the highly prestigious 95,000sqm Burj Al Baher project, known as the Jewel of the Mediterranean. In addition we are providing technical infrastructure services for the Al Mamurah Settlement, carrying out a design review of all civil, drainage and electrical underground services.
Oisin Creagh is the Director leading MÓLA’s work in Libya. Oisin joined the practice in 1991, having worked in the US and in the UK, became an Associate Director in 1998, and was appointed a Director of MÓLA in 2001. He has previously worked on a wide range of projects in Ireland, Russia and Central Europe.
