Ireland at Venice Biennale 2007

MÓLA sponsors the irish exhibit

1984 and beyond

Gerard Bryne's work such as “1984 and beyond” (above) takes a speculative conversation about the world of 1984 as published in a popular magazine of 1963, and reconstructs it in 2005.

Sean KearnsMÓLA are proud to sponsor Ireland's representative at the 52nd International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia,
Gerard Byrne. Gerard’s work has received significant attention internationally in recent years. He uses photography, film and video to create works that reflect on the relationships between the News Media and historical memory, and the formation of ‘mainstream’ culture.

The venue for the exhibition is the Institute Santa Maria della Pietà which is conveniently located between Piazza San Marco and the Arsenale.
The exhibition will be open to the public from Sunday 10 June until Wednesday 21 November 2007. In 2007 for the first time both the Ireland and the Northern Ireland Pavilion, which features the work of Willie Doherty, are located in the same building.
