A number of Murray O'Laoire Architect's projects have recently recieved various national and international awards.
On November 14th, at the Hotel Design Conference in London at the European Hotel Design Awards 2007, MOLA's design project for Carton House Hotel & Spa won the award for Best Architecture (Conversion of an Existing Building to Hotel Use). This is a very prestigious award at the industry's premier celebration of hotel design across Europe.
Carton House was also the recipient of the Best New Hotel award 2007, sponsored by Hospitality Ireland, Irish Hospitality Awards were held on Tuesday 30th October at the Four Seasons Hotel, Dublin.
Carton House has also been named European Golf Resort of the Year 2008 by the International Association of Golf Tour Operators.
The award was presented at the IAGTO Awards Gala Dinner in Cancun, Mexico on Thursday 6th December 2007

On the 6th November in Dublin, four MOLA projects were recognised at the The Bank of Ireland Opus Architecture & Construction Awards. Carton House was again a winner, receiving an Opus Heritage Award and Bon Secours Hospital Chapel in Galway was a winner in another category for the Opus Art in Architecture Award. This scheme was designed with Brian O'Connell architects and the collaborating artist was Hughie O'Donoghue.
Two other projects were honoured as 'Highly Commended'. MOLA's scheme Iveragh Road Town Renewal in Killorglin, Co. Kerry and the new CIT Cork School of Music These Opus national awards recognise and publicly acknowledge excellence in building construction.
The much acclaimed and recently completed CIT Cork School of Music won the overall winner 'Judges Choice Award' at the Cork Marketing Partnership: Better Building Awards held in Cork on 30th October, beating off the competition from 130 other schemes. Speaking afterwards, MOLA Director Ralph Bingham said that:
"It is rewarding that a job that took so much work is recognised, so we are delighted with this award."
At the Irish Property Awards 2007 held at the Burlington on 29th November, Castlethorn Developments mixed-residential scheme at Adamstown, including the MOLA designed Adamstown Square 2 & 3, won the Irish Residential Development of the Year Award.
The MOLA scheme for FÁS in Portlaoise, an Employment Services Office, won an Excellence through Accessibility (EtA) award at an award ceremony held by the National Disability Authority (NDA) at Dublin’s Mansion House on 3rd of December. The Excellence through Accessibility (EtA) scheme recognises public bodies which attain high standards in accessibility across key aspects of their services including buildings and facilities, publications, websites, customer services, human resources and procurement procedures.
