On the edge of the historical city centre and stretching 500m along the bank of the Danube River, a former industrial zone is scheduled to become the most prominent new development in Bratislava, effectively extending the city centre to the river. Phase I, designed in detail by another architect, comprises a shopping and entertainment centre, a river park and a new urban square. At an early stage MOLA designed the outline design strategy and master plan for the retail centre.

MOLA have designed Phase 2 as a complement to Phase 1. This phase comprises a total of 195,000 sq.m. of genuine mixed use development including 842 residential and live-work units (88,691 sq.m.), commercial office suites (92,383 sq.m.), community and leisure facilities including indoor swimming pool and gymnasium (3,126 sq.m.), neighborhood retail and shopping (10,000 sq.m.), and children’s day care and crèche (800 sq.m.).

The concept seeks to provide a great riverside residential environment, exploiting views over water and city, maximising daylight and insolation to all apartments and offering a comprehensive range of commercial, leisure and support amenities. A variety of open spaces, from rooftop gardens to semi-private raised gardens to a public riverside park, will enhance the quality of the residential experience.
