Murray O’Laoire Architects has considerable experience and significant expertise in the area of mixed-use development. Many of our current and largest recent projects are in this category. In these projects, we combine our expertise and skills in master planning, urban design and architecture together in one project. Many of these complex and substantial schemes are part of general Urban or Town Renewal schemes, e.g. Steamboat Quay in Limerick, the Water Street and Lower Glanmire Road development in Cork and the new Killorglin Town Centre in Kerry.
These mixed-use schemes range in scale from small infill projects in Ireland to substantial projects in Ireland, Russia and Eastern Europe. These include the new Athlone Town Centre (80,000 sq.m.), the Eurovea International Trade Centre in Bratislava (183,000 sq.m.) and the International Congress Centre, Rostov-On-Don [illustrated].
Most schemes are mixed residential with a retail and commercial element. Other schemes, including Athlone Town Centre and Rostov-On-Don, incorporate hotel developments, conference facilities and/or civic amenities.
